Removal of Turbine Foundation in Indonesia
This
job required for the removal of the top 2.7 metres of
a 9 metre high by 12 metres long by 6 metres wide turbine
foundation.
The top table had a perimeter beam of 1.2metres by 1.2
metres, which was corbelled to the support legs that
were of similar dimensions. There was 180 tonnes of
concrete to be removed with no section to weigh more
than 25 tonnes.
A Holer EWS 36 wire saw was selected for the job. There
was a total of just over 32 square metres of cutting
with 30no. 32mm. diameter reinforcing rods in each square
metre of cutting. The job took eight days to complete.
In addition, 150mm. diameter lifting holes were drilled
through the beams, as well as 150no. 22mm. diameter
by 650mm. deep starter bar holes. The starter bars were
epoxied into the holes.
